Beaked Hazelnut

Corylus cornuta

An attractive deciduous multi-stemmed large shrub or small tree that has beautiful yellow leaves in fall. It produces an edible nut that are an important first food of native people and valuable for wildlife. Wind-pollinated flowers occur from mid-winter to early spring with male and female catkins. Excellent for wildlife habitat.
