European Mountain Ash

Sorbus aucuparia

Plant Description

Deciduous small tree with pinnately compound leaves divided into 11-15 serrate leaflets and white flowers in fat-topped clusters that mature to bright red to orange-red fruits. Usually grows multiple trunks.

Look Alikes Leaves look like native elderberries, but are smaller. Berries similar to red elderberry, but larger. Also can be confused with native ash trees including Sorbus scopulina and Sorbus sitchensis.
Impact Crowds out native and other more desirable species.
