Plant Description
A perennial that has light yellow flowers with 5 heart-shaped petals and darker yellow center. Toothed palmately lobed leaves with 5-7 leaflets.

| Distribution | Sulfur cinquefoil is widespread in northeastern Oregon and has limited distribution in most southern Oregon Counties as well as Clackamas County. |
| Control | Mowing is not recommended because it can stimulate crown sprouting. Dig small populatoins when soil is moist, being sure to remove most of woody root. Repeated herbicide treatment is also effective. Fertilizing the soil may help reduce sulfur cinquefoil success. |
| Disposal Methods | Cut and bag seed heads if the plant is in seed. |
| Reproduction and Spread | Spreads by seeds and shoots that emerge from woody root crown. Seeds remain viable up to 4 years. |
| Introduced | First reported in Washington in 1937, originally from Mediterranean. |
| Look Alikes | Other cinquefoils - Potentilla gracilis, Comarum palustre |
| Impact | Reduces forage value, displaces native and desirable species, takes over a wide range of habitats (except for full shade). |
