A perennial vine with deep, spreading roots with white to pink funnel-shaped flowers and simple, alternate leaves. Spreads 2-15 feet wide.

Distribution	abundant across North America except some parts of FL, TX, NM, and AZ.
Control	Very difficult to control. Pulling effective for seedlings or young plants before extensive root system is established. Repeated shallow cultivation repeated over several years.
Disposal Methods	Do not put bindweed in backyard compost but municipal compost is OK.
Reproduction and Spread	Reproduces by spreading lateral roots and seeds that can survive for 15-20 years.
Introduced	Native to Europe and Asia, probably came to US as contaminant in farm and garden seeds.
Look Alikes	hedge bindweed (Calystegia sepium)
Impact	Forms large patches that are difficult to control; a noxious agricultural weed.
