Penstemon rydbergii

Plant Description

Rydberg’s penstemon is a very showy and versatile native wildflower with purple-blue flowers blooming in mid-summer. It grows in alpine meadows and valley bottoms, on moist to dry slopes, and along streambanks.  It is an excellent food source for insects and birds like native bees, bumblebees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. It prefers full sun but can tolerate partial shade.
