Camassia leichtlinii ssp suksdorfii
Great camas is an herbaceous perennial with stalks of star-like flowers ranging in color from dark blue-violet to creamy white in spring. It grows from a bulb which, with common camas, was collected as an important food source for native people of the Willamette Valley. It can form a beautiful sea of blue/purple in oak savannahs and oak woodlands, where it attracts pollinators, butterflies, and hummingbirds.
