Arctostaphylos uva-ursi

Low-growing evergreen shrub with reddish bark and leathery leaves. A wonderful landscape shrub and hardy groundcover. Light pink to white urn-shaped flowers in small clusters near tips of stems bloom early and are a favorite of bumblebees. Small red berries are eaten by birds. Extremely hardy and tolerant, which is why it is frequently planted in parking lots and along roadsides.
