Quercus garryana
Oregon’s hallmark native oak tree that is the keystone species of the oak savannah ecosystems which once dominated the Willamette Valley. These important ecosystems now cover just 1-2% of their original land area. Oregon white oak forms a large canopy with wide-spreading branches and beautiful, gnarled form. It is slow growing but long-lived, eventually reaching up to 100 feet tall. White oak is incredibly important for wildlife and supports over 200 species of insects and wildlife. Tolerant of drought and wet winters.
