Pacific Willow

Salix lucida var. lasiandra

Pacific willow is a fast-growing deciduous shrubby tree that forms dense thickets in wet areas. Early blooms provide important food for bumble bees and other pollinators. Willows also provide important food for elk, deer, beaver, and birds. The trees help to keep streams and ponds cool and hold soils, improving aquatic habitats for fish. The whips and bark are used in traditional basketry.
