Adiantum aleuticum
Small, delicate deciduous fern with slender black stems. Elegant finger-like fronds circle around a central black stem. Bright, eye-popping green in the deep forest in early spring. This plant loves shade and moisture, though it will protect itself by going dormant during drought and is tougher than it looks. It can frequently be found growing along seeps springs. Deer resistant.
